Its possible to limit the number of layers that are brought back from a capabilities request to a Geoserver. I have not been able to limit to an individual layer but I have been able to limit to an individual workspace.

The template approximates the following

https:// [server_domain_reference_name]/geoserver/[worspace_name]/ows?service=WFS&version=2.0.0&request=GetCapabilities

Again I put together a quick online tool to help creating these links – assists in creating WFS links either for the entire available Layer set or only individual workspaces.
